T3PS & OPP Arrest 4 People for Trafficking Illicit Substances

(Fort Frances) – On Wednesday April 24th, 2024, Police arrested and charged 4 individuals, successfully concluding a several months long investigation into the Illicit sale of controlled drugs and substances in Seine River First Nation and surrounding area.

Members of the Treaty Three Police Service’s (T3PS) Drug Enforcement Unit, T3PS Street Crime Unit, T3PS Uniform members, the OPP’s Northwest Regions Community Street Crime Unit (Fort Frances & Kenora), the OPP’s Northwest Region Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and OPP Uniform members arrested 4 individuals in the Kenora area who were in possession of a large amount of Cocaine, Oxycodone, and over $12,000.00 of Canadian Currency.

A 35-year-old male and a 69-year-old female from Seine River First Nation were among the 4 arrested and are both facing the following charges:
• Charge 1: Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, Contrary to Section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Charge 2: Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (Oxycodone), Contrary to Section 5(2) of the CDSA

A 39-year-old male and 59-year-old male from Manitoba were the other two individuals arrested and are both facing the following charges:
• Charge 1: Trafficking in a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine, Contrary to Section 5(1) of the CDSA
• Charge 2: Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000- in Canada Contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The 35-year-old Seine River First Nation male and 39-year-old Manitoba resident were held in custody following a bail hearing this morning in Kenora. The other individuals were released on conditions with a court date in June.
