Treaty Three Police Service Street Crime Unit Disrupts Local Drug Trafficking Network

Kenora – The Treaty Three Police Service (T3PS) Street Crime Unit (SCU) has disrupted a drug trafficking network operating in and around Treaty #3 communities following a months-long investigation.

In late 2025, SCU initiated an investigation into suspected drug activity in Naotkamegwanning First Nation, Northwest Angle #33, and Northwest Angle #37. The investigation focused on preventing the flow of illicit substances into Treaty #3 communities.

The investigation led to its first arrest on February 5, 2026, in Kenora, where a 43-year-old male from Onigaming First Nation was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. Officers seized approximately one ounce of cocaine.

On April 10, 2026, SCU members conducted a series of enforcement actions in Kenora, resulting in eight additional arrests throughout the day. Officers seized a further quantity of cocaine during the operation.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have been charged:

  • 47-year-old female, Kenora resident — Trafficking (s. 5(1) CDSA), Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (s. 5(2) CDSA)
  • 52-year-old male, Naotkamegwanning resident — Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (s. 5(2) CDSA)
  • 52-year-old female, Naotkamegwanning resident — Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (s. 5(2) CDSA)
  • 25-year-old male, Kenora resident — Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (s. 5(2) CDSA); also arrested on outstanding warrants
  • 22-year-old female, Kenora resident — Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (s. 5(2) CDSA)
  • 18-year-old male, Kenora resident — Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (s. 5(2) CDSA)
  • 19-year-old female, Kenora resident — Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (s. 5(2) CDSA)

This investigation reflects the continued efforts of the T3PS Street Crime Unit, working in collaboration with policing partners, including the Ontario Provincial Police: Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Kenora Community Street Crime Unit and Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau, to disrupt drug trafficking networks and prevent illicit substances from entering Treaty #3 communities.
