Treaty Three Police Service Holiday Enforcement Results
FROM: General Headquarters
(KENORA) The Treaty Three Police Service (T3PS) conducted focused enforcement efforts throughout the holiday season, ensuring safe roadways across Treaty #3 communities. Between December 1, 2024, and January 2, 2025, officers carried out multiple R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoints and impaired driving enforcement initiatives.
Holiday Enforcement Summary:
- Officers conducted 62 R.I.D.E. checkpoints, stopping and checking a total of 560 vehicles.
- During this period 10 drivers were charged with impaired driving or driving over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood.
R.I.D.E. checkpoints are proactive roadside initiatives where officers stop vehicles to check for sobriety and signs of impaired driving. These operations are vital for deterring impaired driving and promoting road safety, particularly during busy holiday periods.
T3PS commends the majority of drivers who made responsible decisions over the holidays, contributing to safer roads for everyone. However, we remind all drivers of the serious consequences of impaired driving and encourage continued vigilance and safe driving habits year-round.
Treaty Three Police Service is a self-administered Policing entity under the First Nations Policing Program in Canada and is responsible for full policing duties in 23 First Nation Communities in the Treaty #3 territory.
