The Crime Unit currently consists of one Detective Sergeant and three Detective Constables who act as a support to our frontline Officers, providing investigational direction and assistance. The primary function of the Crime Unit continues to be to investigate complex criminal investigations including aggravated assaults, sudden deaths, sexual assaults, domestic assaults, offences against children and any other criminal offence that requires investigative expertise.
The Crime Unit has had an active year investigating several high profile cases which included, but were not restricted to, several arson investigations, major frauds, numerous aggravated and sexual assaults, missing person investigations, along with offences against children.
The Treaty Three Police Service Crime Unit also works in concert with the Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigations Branch to Investigate Homicides and Suspicious Deaths within the Treaty Three Communities and works closely with the Crown Attorney’s Office and other agencies involved in Criminal Investigations, to ensure the administration of justice is carried out. All of our Investigations are ultimately conducted in a culturally appropriate and sensitive fashion, ideally reflective to the ethnicities of the Treaty Three Communities we serve.
