Job Overview:

The Treaty Three Police Service is accepting applications for a Records Management Systems – Operational Reader.

The primary function of the Records Management Systems (RMS) Operational Reader who is under the direction of the Administrative Staff Sergeant or designate, is to perform the work of “reading” and classifying of operational files. Reads and scores all files as per NICHE entries, concludes paperless files on CAD, provides reports and advice to front line police members supervisors on operational file documentation. The incumbent will also train employees in classification of files, information retrieval, (UCR/RMS/CAD) and records management and filing. This position requires adapting to established methods and involves a choice of methods and procedures. Records Management Systems Operational Reader ensures that tasks assigned are complied with and that accountability is provided to all staff members of the Treaty Three Police Service and the member First Nations, while maintaining the intent of the Treaty Three Police Service Philosophy and Mission Statement.

 

Primary Duties:

  • to perform the work of “reading” and classifying of operational files.

  • concludes paperless files on CAD,
  • provides reports and advice to front line police members supervisors on operational file documentation.
  • The incumbent will also train employees in classification of files, information retrieval, (UCR/RMS/CAD) and records management and filing.
  • ensures that tasks assigned are complied with and that accountability is provided to all staff members of the Treaty Three Police Service and the member First Nations, while maintaining the intent of the Treaty Three Police Service Philosophy and Mission Statement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12;
  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience in an administrative police or related environment and demonstrated police investigative experience including knowledge in general office procedures and equipment, organizational policies and procedures;
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in specific computer software applications including Niche RMS and CPIC and the policies, procedures and best practices surrounding their operation; MS Office Suite, Internet and in Dictaphone transcription equipment and related software,
  • Recommended courses include OPC CPIC Terminal Operator Course Certificate, OPC CPIC Advanced Course Certificate and CPIC 3.0;
  • Must have ability to perform as a trainer for civilians and officers in the use of specific computer software applications including Niche RMS and CPIC;
  • T3PS security clearance is mandatory;
  • Valid Class G Provincial driving licence;
  • Be of good moral character with no criminal record;
  • Additional skills including:
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal and public relations skills;
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of composition, spelling, and grammar to transcribe data correctly;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Ability to problem solve and exercise good judgement and cope in difficult situations;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Adaptability to established methods and involves a choice of methods and procedures;
  • Knowledge and understanding of community languages, culture, traditions with a high sensitivity to aboriginal issues.
