Victim Services Advocate

Treaty Three Police Services is seeking a dedicated professional for a Permanent Full-Time Victim Services Advocate position, making victim support more efficient, effective, and empathetic. The Victim Support position aims to enhance capacity to support victims and survivors of intimate partner/domestic violence, human trafficking, and child exploitation through enhanced collaboration and coordination between police and broader sectors and communities. Broader sectors may include justice, housing, education, health/mental health, community and social services, and children and youth services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Developing stronger partnerships between police and non-police partners to enhance community capacity to respond to survivors’ complex needs.
• Creating digital platforms to provide victims with tools and resources to understand their rights, options, and the support available to them, thereby reducing barriers to access.
• Investing in virtual resources to enable remote support for victims and survivors, an increasingly crucial resource in an interconnected world.
• Acting as an ambassador to strengthen communication with officers and provide referral management.
• Conducting awareness campaigns, joining/building community/committee service engagements, digital outreach, and community engagement activities to inform the communities about available resources and supports.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills Training:

• Proficient with computers and related software MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Ontario drivers license.
• Be of good moral character with no criminal record for which a record; suspension (pardon) has not been received or an absolute/conditional discharge that has not been sealed.
• Excellent verbal and listening skills including:
o Speaking clearly with proper volume, tone emphasis and in a confident manner in all situations including when speaking in front of a group or audience.
o Giving concise, understandable, accurate directions/instruction.
o Listening carefully for total meaning.
o Courteous, polite, and positive.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to problem solve and exercise good judgement and cope in difficult situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Knowledge and understanding of Treaty Three community languages, culture, traditions with a high sensitivity to aboriginal issues.

Entry Level Rate $38.39/hr, with potential for progression to $45.17/hr
